We took a bus to Melaka and stayed at Hotel Puri. It was actually an old rick Peranakan family's house which underwent a major renovation. It had a blend of modern furnishings and Peranakan feel.

Where we put up, Hotel Puri. Nice eh..
On the first day, we visited the standard historical attractions at Melaka, namely the St. Paul's Cathedral, the Stadhuys and the iconic Kota A Famosa. Though many of the structures were in ruins, it brought a sense of excitement and fulfilment as we got a feel of the Melaka heritage.
Oh ya, to add to it, we actually had our tea/dinner at a Peranakan coffeeshop. It was located at the Chinatown of Melaka. The main road running through Chinatown was Jonker Street. It was in a way similar to Singapore's Chinatown, with many shops selling authentic and delicious chicken rice balls, Peranakan food, etc. The many shops which adorned Chinatown specialised in selling antique items and it was up to us to negotiate a good price with the shopkeepers.

At Stadhuys and remnants of the Melaka fort.
So basically after visiting the historical sites, we made our way to a shopping mall to rest our legs and enjoy the aircondition. Went back our hotel and watched TV till it was time to sleep. Till next time, for day 2 highlights of our Melaka trip.
