Zoo Trip (12 November 2006)

This was going to be a wonderful and memorable day for me. I was going to the zoo for the first time! Well, actually the second. I first visited the zoo when I was still an infant in Malaysia and I could only vaguely remember the giraffes in KL.
Went to the zoo with a group of friends from my Database project group. We started off from NUS taking the bus 96 to Clementi MRT. It was so hot and sunny in the morning such that we predicted it was going to be a hot day ahead. We stopped at Choa Chu Kang MRT and boarded the only bus to the zoo (can't remember the number)
Honestly, the zoo trip was quite fun, for me at least. I got to see various animals in real life. The zoo was divided into various areas to cater to the different animals in different parts of the world. For example, there was the African area, where we got to see tigers, lions, giraffes, etc. The rhinos that we came across were smelly as they were bathed in mud. Yikes.
There was also the penguins and polar bears section. Unfortunately, they do not look as big as I thought. Those that were in the zoo were quite small. Halfway along our walk, the rain started to pour, and it never stopped since then. Damn..
We braved through the rain to visit the entire zoo, including the 'Outback' which is named after the Australian deserts. Apparently the Outback was designed by the late crocodile hunter. We got to see kangaroos and scary snakes. Again, the kangaroos were miniature in standard.
There was one particular area which interest me though. It was the reptile section. I got to see various snakes, including pythons and cobras. If ever they were to escape, I think it will be chaotic for everyone. The crocodiles that I saw were damn huge. It was by my estimate to be around the size of 10 adult humans. Hehe..
At around 5.30pm, we ended our zoo trip. It was a nice experience to go to the zoo, see the animals and chill out in the mean time. Cheers.
