A tribute to Raffles Hall
Once in a while, people will ask me which hall I stay at in NUS. Without hesitation, I would reply to them 'Raffles Hall'. Then a moment of silence comes in between our conversation. And then the other person will try and change the conversation. He or she must be wondering, ' Why are you staying in that old and run down hall? Why aren't you staying at Temasek or Eusoff, or even KR and Sheares, which is newer and livelier.
Corridor of Raffles Hall.
The truth be told, the geographical imagination of RH is all that has imagined by them. Not many people are bothered about RH while studying in NUS. Their only concern is just to graduate with a top-notch degree. In fact, the turnover in RH every year can easily be higher than 50%.
To the students, it is simple. Why bother about Hall, when Hall doesn't give anything in return? How true... I guess. In Singapore, we are always taught to fend for ourselves, and that there is nothing as free lunch. So why contribute, when we don't get anything in return?
Well, I guess in life, it is not only about hoping to get something in return nor winning the rat-race. You must be thinking, so much of cock stuff rite..
